APN General Meeting

This year’s State Budget includes funding that expands the Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) Program, which is a last-dollar tuition scholarship for people attending New Jersey’s community colleges. CCOG is available at all 18 community colleges to students graduating high school as well as returning adult learners. People with annual household incomes of $65,000 or less may be considered for this grant. CCOG recipients can enroll full- or part-time (minimum of six credits per semester). In addition, CCOG provides funds to the community colleges for student support staff and services, ensuring that the colleges can meet the needs of new and returning students. Jacob Farbman of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges will be joining us on July 31, to discuss the CCOG program and how it can be helpful in addressing poverty in the state. In addition, he is asking for our ideas to ensure that the people we are serving who are seeking access to college are aware of this program and can seamlessly access it.

Come join fellow advocates and social services organizations to learn, share, and empower one another. We will be reviewing progress made for low-income New Jerseyans so far this year and looking forward to the exciting 20th Anniversary Poverty Summit with bold solutions to end poverty in our state over the next 20 years.

As always, feel free to bring information or handouts on new or upcoming reports, events, and other resources that would be valuable to our collective learning and advocacy!
